Global Challenge & Innotec UK

Innotec UK have announced a sponsorship deal with the Maritime Explorer Dom Mee and his latest project Atlantic Quest 2007. Atlantic Quest will aim to break the Atlantic rowing record currently held by a French team who set the record in 1992.

Dom has used the Innotec range of products throughout his expedition career and is delighted that Innotec have come on board as a major sponsor. The deal said to be into the thousands is on the back of the company’s rapid expansion in the UK and the American markets. There is also rumour of Innotec being involved in a major sponsorship deal with NASCAR racing.

Dom who narrowly escaped death in the North Atlantic in his bid to be the first person to Kite sail across an ocean in 2005 is all too aware of the dangers that will face his team of four.
His new vessel ‘GB Row Challenge’ built in Exmouth by Rowsell and Adkin is a self righting boat designed for strength and speed. “Rowsel and Adkin boats are the best in the world this one is a Ferrari compared to the boat that I used to row across the Pacific” quoted Dom. It will need to be; the French team set an amazing time of 35 days and 8 hours and despite over 200 challenge rows since 1992 the record still stands.

The magnitude of the challenge ahead can be over bearing “with England out of the world cup and the first anniversary of the July bombings we hope we can add a positive feel to the media and “Do our country proud”. “I feel like I am standing at the base of a huge mountain; it’s pretty scary”, quoted Dom.

Melanie Murrell, Managing Director of Innotec quoted “We as a company are very proud to be part of such a British challenge and we are totally behind Dom and his team to break the record. I think it is time that the Blue Ribbon of Ocean Rowing should return to back to Britain”.
